A patio fails from the bottom up. We excavate, lay a compacted base and slope it so rain leaves the stone, then build the room on top: seat walls at sitting height, a fire pit or gas fire table sized to the group you actually host, and lighting run in before the stone.
What's in the scope
- Natural stone, porcelain and concrete paver terraces
- Compacted base with a fall away from the house
- Seat walls and steps with built-in lights
- Wood or gas fire pits and fire tables, gas line by a licensed fitter
- Covered seating with heaters
- Drainage under and around the terrace
Questions people ask
Wood or gas?
Gas lights with a switch and has no smoke for the neighbours. Wood has the crackle. Check your city's burn rules; we design either.
Will the patio heave or settle?
Not if the base is built right. We dig out soft soil, compact in lifts and give the surface a fall so water runs off instead of sitting under the stone.
Can we use it in winter?
Yes, with a cover and heat. Most of our rooms are planned for October to March evenings, not only July.
